5 Creative Ways of Using your Smartphone’s NFC

Most smartphones these days come with NFC. But people are not so familiar with what NFC is

or what they can do with it.

What is NFC?

NFC or Near Field Communication is a set of protocols that enable two electronic devices to

communicate. One of the devices is usually a portable device such as a smartphone while the

other is a device such as a speaker. To establish communication between the two, you have to

bringing them close to each other and/or tap them.

Now that we know what NFC is, let’s look at 5 creative ways of using it.
-5 Creative Ways of Using your Smartphone’s NFC

#1 - Turning on/off your WiFi

NFC tag’s are available in the market at a very cheap rate. Getting one of these if you

have a smartphone that’s got NFC, is going to make your life easier. With just a tap on this NFC

tag - preferably placed near your door - you can turn the WiFi off while leaving the house with

ease. Similarly, you can turn it on when you are back.

#2 - Give others access to your Wi-Fi

You can give access to your WiFi without even giving anyone the password. Place an

NFC tag at a reachable place and it’ll give your friends instant access to your Wi-Fi. NFC tags

work when the device is less 4cm away so this eliminates the trouble of strangers and outsiders

accessing your WiFi.

#3 - Change Mobile Profile

At the gym or office? Want the phone to be on silent? Let NFC do it for you! Just

customize your tag and tap it on the mobile to change the profile. What’s more? You can even

assign it to play a specific playlist if you are to use it at the gym.

#4 - Wake me up!

Get out of bed in the morning is a trouble we all go through. There is an app called

Puzzle Alarm Clock that lets you turn off the alarm only if it scans the tag. Just place the tag in

your bathroom or hall and that’ll force you to get up and turn it off!

#5 - On The Move

It’s fairly difficult to get a hold of your phone and get things done everyday. Try using a

NFC tag. Just a tap and it’ll turn on music, GPS and much more without all the hustle and

bustle.

NFC is not available in all the mobiles under 10000 now but is expected to be a focus feature

soon, once more people start using it regularly.
